Week 24th
– 26th February
This week
we finished talking about the past.
You had to guess how the story went on
(continued).
“It was a cold, dark night in November…
…Vanessa was driving
out of town but she wasn’t going
home.
Where do you think she was going?
She was driving past some
trees when suddenly she hit something in the road. She stopped and
got out of the car.
What do
you think she saw?
Vanessa
was sure the driver of the car was following her because the dog was his.
Why was
the car following her?
Now, the
driver of the car was flashing his lights.
What do
you think Vanessa did?
“The police are (plural) looking for a murderer who escaped
from prison last night”, said the news on
the radio.
How do you
think Vanessa felt now? Why?
Vanessa got out of the car,
ran up
to the door, rang
the bell and shouted, “Martin, help! Help!”
Where do
you think Martin was?
Martin got his
shotgun and opened
the door. The black car stopped next to Vanessa’s car and a tall man
got out.
Who do you
think the man was?
“No, no!
I’m not the murderer”, said the man. “The murderer is in the back of your car”
When did
the murderer get into Vanessa’s car?
We also
talked about school days. They look so far now…
For some
of us, me, they look like another life!
·
Did you use to
be a rebel?
·
Did you use to
wear a uniform?
·
Which subjects did you use to like?
·
Elena and Alberto used to like P.E. (it stands for
Physical Education)
·
I didn’t use to like P.E.
And we finished the
week starting to talk about illnesses.
We use “To have (or to
have got) a ----ache” with
Headache
– toothache – earache – backache and stomach ache
When other parts of
our body ache, we use:
To have a pain in _________ or my ________ hurts / aches.
I have a pain in my arm or
my leg hurts.
Remember to use
possessive adjectives with parts of the body.
You can
have a pain in your neck.
But somebody can be a
pain in the neck! (or in another part of our anatomy which
sounds less polite!) when they are really annoying!
With throat and eyes,
we use the expression
To have sore /sɔ:/
throat or sore/sɔ:/
eyes.
We can also:
Have a cold / have a temperature / have a cough and sneeze.
When
we have the flu, we usually have a temperature and all our body aches!
When
we have a cold, we usually cough and sneeze!
I hope you are
healthy and enjoy the Carnival! See you tomorrow!
